The Perfect Storm is brewing and RTFKT is the cause.
The people said, "We need affordable, fashionable, and easy-to-use augmented reality-enabled clothing and devices that integrate with the blockchain, and we want them now."
"The Gamification of reality is here". Are you ready? -🍌🐀
The point that is escaping many people involved in the developing Web 3.0 space is the disruptive nature of the Augmented Reality Metaverse. The Augmented Reality Metaverse will reach production years before Virtual Reality Metaverses are fully up and running. Fully interactive Augmented Reality (or “AR”) environments will be mainstream by late 2023 into 2024.
So start planning for the arrival of the gamification of reality today!
One of the most undervalued technologies on the market right now is Augmented Reality (AR), but it will not be for long. The ability to combine the virtual and physical worlds promises to improve our daily lives and strengthen our business communities.
AR technology is evolving and being adopted by consumers and businesses in all industries. The AR smart glasses market is expected to reach $7.2 billion by late 2023. (-Microsoft)
And, @RTFKT is positioned to dominate the space.
Why? To answer this question, the Banana Rat will outline the why and the how. I will outline the main product lines in the RTFKT Web 3.0 ecosystem. I will also review each of the entry points for new community members to enter the ecosystem.
In the future, the world will be made up of AR, Virtual Reality (VR), and Mixed Reality Metaverses. People will move seamlessly through all three of these Metaverse platforms. This will only be possible once interoperability standards are finalized.
The main disruption factor that many are missing is the timing of the Augmented Reality Metaverse. The Augmented Reality Metaverse will be fully operational years before Virtual Metaverses are operating even on a basic level. Right now it is estimated that the Augmented Reality Metaverse will start to be adopted in late 2023. With mass adoption taking place by 2027.
As the Augmented Reality Metaverse advances, we are starting to unlock the potential of AR devices. At this point, we can begin to imagine what the world will look like when we are all living in a giant version of
"Pokémon Go on steroids."-🍌🐀
And with the Augmented Reality Metaverse comes:

Below you will find a breakdown of the major entry points and primary functionality within the RTFKT/NIKE ecosystem.
Clone X Avatars:
The Clone X avatars have the distinction of being the best strategic entry point into the RTFKT ecosystem, but they are also one of the more costly entry points. As the first major collection released by RTFKT in the Web 3.0 space, the Clone X Avatars are the "god-tier" level of the RTFKT ecosystem.
As the "god-tier" level within the RTFKT ecosystem, the Clones typically receive free drops, along with drops associated with new product lines and brand partnerships are announced.
To date, each Clone X has received a Monolith 1, Space Pod, Loot Pod, Monolith-2, Crypto Kicks, and a Crypto Kick Vial. The Clones also received access to luxury brand drops from luxury brands like of Rimowa, and the World Cup-sanctioned RTFKT jersey, with many more brand & athlete collaborations to be announced.
If your budget allows it, the Clones are the best entry point into the RTFKT ecosystem. There are other great entry points at much lower price points, more on those entry points below.
The Clones X avatars come in 8 different DNA, plus a Murakami drip trait that is shared by all DNA. I have included a breakdown of the DNA lines below:
- Alien (30)
- Murakami (96)
- Undead (115)
- Reptile (244)
- Demon (1697)
- Angel (1698)
- Robot (5828)
- Human (9729)
- Murakami Drip (2999)
The first Monolith was a free drop to Clones. Monolith #1 was opened when the community completed a set of shared quests and challenges. The quest unlocked Monolith #1 for forging. When opened (forged) Monolith #1 gives the owner a Nike-branded Monolith #2, a Crypto Kick Sneaker, and a Crypto Kick Vial. Some gamification was involved as the vials were randomly given out in different quantities based on the Clone DNA described above.
Monolith #2 is Nike Branded and I believe it may be Nike's first official NFT.
Monolith #2 is rumored to be tied to Nike's http://Swoosh.Nike launch and potentially to Nike’(s) future Move to Earn platform. More on Move to Earn shortly.

Pick up a few if you can. Big announcement coming before the end of the year (2022).
RTFKT LOOT Pod
The RTFKT loot pod is an expansion gallery for the space pod outlined above.
It is expected that there will be a "burning mechanism" that will allow the Space Pods, and Loot Pods to be transformed into an interconnected Metaverse land play. RTFKT recently has said that some news will be coming on this front around Christmas 2022.
Clone X Fashion Forging Event
RTFKT implemented its first Clone X forging event in September of 2022. It allowed each Clone X avatar to have the ability to mint (for a price) clothing lines for their Clones. The clothing lines include: hats, jackets, shirts, vests, hockey jerseys, pants, air force one sneakers, and socks for each DNA line.
The clothing that could be forged was structured into clothing lines specific to the DNA associated with your Clone.
Due to rarity and scarcity the Alien and Murakami, and undead are the most sought-after of the nine available DNA clothing and footwear lines.
Forging events are expected to happen at least once a year for the entire Clone X line, and more frequently in support of certain Clone traits that align with athlete's collaborations and luxury brand partnerships.
How RTFKT Forging Works
RTFKT first issues a pre-forged NFT. In the case of the first Clone Forging event, each Clone could pay for an NFT representing the clothing piece they wanted for their Clone. The options included: hats, jackets, shirts, vests, hockey jerseys, pants, Air Force 1 sneakers, and socks for each DNA line. A few weeks/months later when the order has been manufactured, you take your clothing NFT to the RTFKT forging website.
RTFKT then collects your shipping info, ships you the product, RTFKT then burns the old NFT and issue a new one. Then the forging window closes. The NFT then connects to the physical good.
I believe that RTFKT is working on a marketplace that will allow for the sale of both physical clothing and the associated NFT for secondary sales. I expect we will see this launch in mid-2023.
The Murakami Jacket is a good example of an already-forged clothing line:
The Rimowa suitcase is an example of one that is not yet able to be forged:
Air Force 1 Sneakers branded by Clone DNA
Clones are also able to forge the legendary line of Air Force 1 sneakers from Nike.
Designed by Bruce Kilgore and introduced in 1982, the Air Force 1 was the first-ever basketball shoe to feature Nike Air technology, revolutionizing the game and sneaker culture forever.
The Air Force 1 differentiated itself from other shoes through its Nike Air technology and construction. Kilgore explained in an interview with Nike that the Air Force 1 was the first Nike shoe to feature slip-lasted construction, a process in which the upper is pulled tightly over the shoe last and is then glued to the midsole, making for a more flexible upper.
When issued in a limited edition run the Nike Air force ones have been known to sell for exorbitant amounts.
Nike's rare Louis Vuitton Air Force 1 shoes sold for as much as $350,000.
"Air Force 1′s are Nike’s top-selling sneakers of all time. And that isn’t surprising. Everyone from Jay Z to Kendall Jenner has a relationship with the classic shoe." - Vogue
Some of the Clone X DNA lines were produced in very limited numbers during the first Clone X forging event.
A particularly rare sneaker release for a sneakerhead would be a run of 30,000 sneakers. Some DNA lines for the Clone X Air Force 1 were produced in extremely low numbers. With the Clone X - Alien DNA Air Force 1 being limited to a run of 60. And the much sought-after Takashi Murakami DNA Nike Air Force 1 limited to a run of just 167.
The sneakerheads are coming!!!!
What is a sneakerhead you ask?
A formal definition of a sneakerhead, according to Matt Powell of Forbes magazine, is a person who collects trades and/or admires sneakers as a form of hobby. Sneakerheads, like most collectors, are passionate and dedicated to their subject. Many are very knowledgeable about the origins and history of sneakers and spend a great deal of time and money studying the category and its past while building their collections.
The global sneaker resale market is estimated to be worth over $30 billion by 2030.
The entire sneaker market is estimated to be worth over $100 billion by 2030.
And RTFKT and Nike are positioned to disrupt and change the global sneaker market forever.
The key to success in onboarding the sneakerhead community lies in the education and induction of new users to the blockchain and crypto wallets (safely). The Sneakerhead & Streetwear communities are about to onboard to Metaverse en masse – are you ready?
Nike has hinted that the Air Force 1’s in the Clone X DNA lines will have chips that tie into RTFKT and Nike's move-to-earn platform rumored to be released in 2023.
RTFKT x Nike Dunk Genesis CRYPTOKICKS
The Nike Dunk Genesis Cryptokicks is a collection of 20,000 NFTs launched by Nike and RTFKT ("artifact").
The sneakers, called Nike Dunk Cryptokicks, are modelled after the Nike Dunk sneaker.
As stated above the sneakers were available to people who own RTFKT’s Monolith 1, a mysterious box that was airdropped to Clone-X holders.
The Cryptokicks are revolutionary, as they have integrated LCD technology that changes color and pattern, depending on the Skin Vile that is loaded on the sneaker.
"The Cryptokicks will make use of eight RTFKT "evolutionary skins”. The interchangeable skins will allow owners to customize the sneakers with various looks and designs, similar to a video-game skin." -Vogue Business
One of the limited edition Takashi Murakami RTFKT NFT 'Cryptokicks' with a Takashi Murakami skin vial Sold For $130K.
What is a "Skin Vial" you ask?
The Cryptokick line includes active in-sneaker video display screens that update when different DNA skin vials are inserted. The Skin Vials currently align with the type of clones: Murakami, demon, etc. Nike has hinted that high-end brands and players like King James and Serena Williams will have their own fashion lines based on vial technology, near field communication chips that connect the sneakers to the ownership NFT.
The Cryptokicks are rumored to be heavily featured in RTFKT/Nike (s) Move to Earn campaign rumored to be launching in 2023.
The skin vials for the Cryptokicks:
The Cryptokicks iRL
The Cryptokicks iRL is the first smart sneaker released from RTFKT featuring the next evolution of smart sneaker technology.
"Accelerating Nike’s culture of innovation, the Cryptokicks iRL is the first native Web 3 sneaker featuring the latest technology, which combines decades of Nike Sneaker innovation, with RTFKT’s vision to merge the digital and physical worlds.
The Cryptokicks iRL pay homage to the Nike Mag, which debuted in 1989, with the release of the Back to the Future 2 film. The Air Mag was designed by sneaker legend, Tinker Hatfield, then brought to life by Nike innovation teams in charitable auctions in 2011 and 2016 with auto-lacing tech.
The Cryptokicks iRL is the first smart sneaker released from RTFKT featuring the next evolution of smart sneaker technology. The Cryptokicks iRL features auto-lacing, enhanced lighting, haptic feedback, gesture control, walk detection, App connectivity, AI/ML algorithms and wireless charging via the RTFKT Powerdeck.
The sneakers will be limited to 19,000, and the colourway split will be defined by the collectors choices. They will be sold as digital collectibles (NFT) that redeem physical counterparts, in a process RTFKT calls forging. The sneaker comes in 4 unique colourways - Blackout, Stone, Ice and Space Matter.
Minters and forgers will receive a pair of Cryptokicks iRL sneakers as a digital asset (NFT) and a physical pair of sneakers, with RTFKT’s WM Chip to link the digital and physical items." - RTFKT
The Athletes, Celebrities and Luxury Brands are Coming:
The Banana Rat has heard a rumor that LeBron James and Serena Williams have sneaker and clothing drops coming in early 2023! Clones with yet-to-be-released traits will likely have access to the clothing lines and sneaker releases from these athletes. If this comes to fruition, the Banana Rat surmises that the public will also have access to a certain number as well.
The🍌🐀 is hearing rumors that Michael Jordan may be on deck for late 2023. Let's hope… The sneakerheads will lose their minds!
Move to Earn Rumors
If RTFKT and Nike do launch a move-to-earn campaign, participants would theoretically earn rewards by running, jogging, or just walking outdoors as long as they have a GPS connection on their mobile phone, and own a sneaker NFT.
Rewards may also be available for participants that show up at a certain event at a certain time, or perhaps a series of events across a city or the globe. The “gameanomics” is endless.
If RTFKT and Nike do launch a move-to-earn campaign the celebrity and luxury brand tie-ins will be legendary. Now is a great time to get in, before Nike announces their move-to-earn campaign sales campaign.
RTFKT x RIMOWA “Meta-Artisan” Original Cabin Luggage
The limited edition Original Cabin suitcase line was launched with an 888 piece Rimowa luggage drop. The luggage piece will be available in both physical and digital form.
“Cabin Luggage NFT owners will be able to redeem (forge) a limited edition RTFKT x RIMOWA Original Cabin Luggage during the Forging event. Forged physical cabin luggage will be equipped with an NFC tag. You will be able to link your NFT with the NFC tag on your forged physical cabin luggage item. NFT owners will be able to download licensed wearable 3D models of the cabin luggage content at a later date.” -designboom
“The RIMOWA Original Cabin Silver with its distinctive grooves is regarded as one of the most iconic luggage designs of all time.” -designboom
NFT holders will be able to forge their assets to redeem a physical version of the luggage at an exclusive digital event in early 2023.
The luggage features a limited edition “Wandersmith” Anti-FUD pattern print, made for next-gen world builders and explorers.” - RTFKT
RTFKT x RIMOWA WorkerBot
A collection of 2,222 ‘WorkerBot’ NFTs will be released as part of the collaboration with Rimowa.
The WorkerBots are the Wandersmith’s trusted assistants, carrying out all types of tasks for the Artisan, such as aluminum welding, regular inspection of the factory lines, and general maintenance of the space. With the FUD Virus vanquished by the hard work of the RTFKT community, the WorkerBots can now carry on with their daily assignments. NFT owners will be able to download licensed wearable 3D model(s) of the WorkerBots content at a later date.
Equipped for future connectivity with RTFKT Skin Vial Tech.
The Rimowa worker bots are a great entry point to the RTFKT ecosystem. They are still available at a lower entry level than some of the other RTFKT lines. They will not stay this way for long.
Jeff Staple / RTFKT shoe and Meta-Pigeon line.
After captivating attention across New York City with what was once a burgeoning graphic T-shirt line in the early 2000s, Staple was approached by Nike to craft a commemorative sneaker that would pay homage to the Empire City. That sneaker — the Staple x Nike SB Dunk “Pigeon” - Hypebeat.
Jeff Staple has now teamed up with RTFKT to produce:
The “METAPIGEON MK,” initially listed at $2021 USD, offers a digitized purple-sliver-gold rendition of the Pigeon sneaker as well as a physical shoe — however, only 100 editions will be available. -Hyperbeat
And rounding out the digital collection, the “METAPIGEON,” limited to 100 editions and priced at $1 USD, exists as a virtual robotic pigeons.
This turned out to possibly be the best return on investment of all time. But that is a story for another blog post.
Big things are coming from Jeff Staple and RTFKT in 2023.
Animus Project: Protect the Eggs
The Eggs belong to the Animus project. Not much of the gaming details are known yet. RTFKT founders have hinted that it will have both Augmented and Virtual reality components. They have hinted at a partnership with PlayStation (although nothing has been formally announced).
The Animus game with its tie-in to RTFKT(s) augmented reality fashion technology, coupled with Nike's footprint in the forming Metaverse, has a lot of potential going forward.

Nike LAND ROBLOX
Don’t forget about Nike Land in Roblox! The Banana Rat sees a day in the not-so-distant future when Clone X Clones and their wardrobes of sneakers, clothing, and gaming skins transition seamlessly into established metaverses like @Roblox.
Nike Lands virtual world includes buildings, fields, and arenas for players to compete in various mini-games, ranging from tag and dodgeball to “The Floor Is Lava.” It’s modeled after the company’s real-life headquarters. Nike Land is free to explore, but users require Robucs (Roblox currency) to buy Nike merchandise.
What is Nike Land you ask? Nike Land is Nike's move into the Roblox Metaverse. And, although it is not currently plugged into the blockchain, the Banana Rat expects that it will at some point in the future.
"6.7 million people have visited Nike Land so far. They have come from over 224 different countries, and all those people are “driving energy” to virtual products." -John Donahoe, Nike’s CEO, and president.
Donahoe said that Nike Digital, the division that includes the company’s web3 ventures, currently brings in 26% of Nike’s total revenue.
Roblox Corporation had over 58.8 million daily active users in 2022 and Nike is capturing a larger and larger percentage as they roll out new features. In closing:
Creative Augmented Reality solutions will build brand loyalty and attract new consumers.
Are you ready for the future of retail? You need to be because…
Will People buy products with Augmented Reality enhancements? The answer is overwhelmingly yes. Statistics show that 61% of online shoppers prefer making purchases on sites that offer AR shopping experiences. - Deyan Georgiev
- 35% claim that AR would increase how much they shop online.
- 49% say that they are willing to pay more for a product as long as they are allowed to preview in AR.
- 45% think that AR features save customers time spent on decision-making and encourage return shopping.
Fully interactive VR environments will be mainstream by 2025, so start planning for the arrival of the Virtual Reality Marketplace today.
The launch of a fully functional Augmented Reality Metaverse is a crucial pillar of the Banana Rats “The Metaverse is the Marketplace” philosophy, and a critical step if we are to introduce Metaverse Marketplaces to the masses.
RTFKT and Nike have shown they are a leader in Augmented reality retail transformation. RTFKT and Nike are in fact years ahead of most of the competition. Having integrated NFC (near field communication) chips into their latest NFT/fiscal world fashion release with Nike and Takashi Murakami.
